Case Study: Last Chance for California City's Tax Measure C

Terrell Strategies looks for the WIN in every project we take on, and won't take on a project unless we believe we can win. Below is an example of our success in creating and executing successful political campaign strategies.


Three times was the charm for California City's parcel tax measure to support public safety, but it was also the last time before drastic cuts were enacted, including shuttering the local Police Department and drastic cuts to the Fire Department.


The two previous parcel tax measures had failed in just less than the past year and a half, but the City had one more chance to hold a special election.


What would change this time that hadn't worked previously.


Staying strictly on message, and narrowing down to the dire consequences if this did not pass was stressed at every turn. In addition to a strong mail campaign, a social media campaign was also launched, something that wasn't evident in the previous two tries.


Measure C passed  with nearly 80%.
